Greetings to all:
We have many devices to assist us in daily living. One of those devices that many of us use is the cell phone that we use to send quick text messages to friends.
We tend to count on these devices to auto-correct our mistakes when writing. I have written messages only to find out that what I meant to say was the exact opposite of what I actually sent.
I might be sending a message to accept an invitation for lunch but instead send the message, “I would not love to do lunch with you.” Some of these mistakes are often amusing and harmless; others can put everything off-course.
In a spiritual sense, too many times we allow the world’s influence to put its own auto-correct on our Christian lifestyle, and as a result we send the wrong message about what we believe.
There is so much spin put on political correctness today that many get caught up saying things that they never would otherwise. This is why our spiritual compass must be always in view. Our spiritual compass must always be pointed to what God’s word says about the situation.
One small mistake in our auto-correct can lead to distancing ourselves from what we hold as truth. Yet in the midst of the pressure to conform to this world we have clear principles to hold us on true north.
#1 is being familiar with God’s word. #2 is prayer, which keeps the communication open in order to hear on-the-spot guidance. #3 is fellowship which helps us to feed off one another’s experience with God, giving us a greater boldness in standing for truth.
You are a walking truth dispenser. The Spirit of God in you wants to move in you to show the world what living by His word really looks like.
You are a light in a dark environment. You hold the key to someone else’s problem. You are the joy to another’s sadness.
There are too many counting on you for you to rely on the world’s auto-correct. 1 John 2: 21 says, “I have not written to you because you do not know the truth, but because you know it, and that no lie is of the truth.”
As you speak the truth in love, you will hold yourself on the right path and lead others to follow.
Love to all…pb
