Greetings to all:

Many questions have come from the Fort McMurray wildfire. Most look at the devastation and are moved with compassion for those who have lost so much. After such disasters, many wonder why it happened to some while others are in relative safety.

Most of the time, we live like we are not in any danger. But have you ever thought about the fact that, living in a hostile environment, so much effort has gone into keeping you safe? If we were to consider only the physical realm we could name any number of organizations that keep us safe on a daily basis: the fire department, the police department, hospitals, etc.

But let’s go deeper: there are forces that we cannot see that are arrayed against us to kill, steal and destroy (John 10:10). We do live in a hostile environment yet most don’t realize it and never give consideration to the help that comes from heaven to protect us.

Jesus told us that we have angels who are in constant communication with the Father in heaven. Angels who are sent to protect as well as minister to us in various way. “For He shall give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways. In their hands they shall bear you up, lest you dash your foot against a stone” (Ps. 91:11-12).

While driving on an unfamiliar highway, Debbie and I found ourselves about to be crushed by a huge truck. In the midst of this, Debbie cried “Jesus have mercy!” To our surprise, the next thing we knew we were safely behind this big vehicle out of harm’s way.

As I think about that situation, I am convinced that an angel responded to our prayer to “guard us in all our ways” and kept us from disaster. Angels are sent to minister to us, yet we often take our safety for granted, thinking we are not in any danger. Who knows? Perhaps you may have an angel rescuing you from danger every single day.

Take a few minutes and reflect on the love of God who treats you as He treated Daniel when He sent His angel to shut the mouths of the lions that night in the lions’ den.

You are not alone; God has got you covered.

Love to all… pb
