Greetings to all,
Have you ever wondered why things are the way they are? George Otis Jr. wrote a book on a similar topic. In it he tells how he went around the world asking the question, “Why does spiritual darkness linger where it does?”
His journey demonstrated that there is a spiritual dynamic that manipulates mankind, as we are told many times in Scripture. According to 2 Corinthians 4:4, “The god of this world has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe.”
There is a spiritual blindness that holds most people in bondage.
The apostle Paul reminds the church of Ephesus of this reality: “You followed the ways of this present world and its spiritual ruler. This ruler continues to work in people who refuse to obey God” (Ephesians 2:2). However, as believers, we are not in bondage to any demonic influence.
Romans 8:14-15 tells us we have been given our freedom: “Certainly, all who are guided by God’s Spirit are God’s children. You haven’t received the spirit of slaves that leads you into fear again. Instead, you have received the spirit of God’s adopted children by which we call out, ‘Abba, Father.’”
We choose to be under a different spiritual influence than that of the world. We choose to be under God’s influence, which releases heaven’s atmosphere (a surrounding or pervading mood, environment, or influence). When we pray “Your Kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven” (Matthew 6:10), we are inviting the invasion of God’s kingdom into our homes, into our society.
We are no longer slaves. How wonderful is our Saviour who has given us victory over darkness! As many as are under the influence of God’s Kingdom are able to call Him Daddy.
Today, allow yourself to come under heaven’s influence and notice the presence of King Jesus as you demonstrate His love to the world. Take a moment and meditate on the fact that you get to call the Creator of all things Daddy.
Love to all,
P.B.
