Greetings to all:
In Colossians 3:1-2 the apostle Paul tells us, “If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.”
Have you ever thought of what heaven is like? In order to heed the above scripture it is important we take time to consider this place where we are invited to spend eternity.
We can glean thoughts about heaven in reading the scriptures.
Revelations 21:4 says, “And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”
One thing we know is that sorrow will not be in heaven. Death will not be there; sickness will not invade heaven. Heaven is a wonderful place.
If we take the time to meditate on what heaven is like we will have a much better concept of what we are asking for when we pray the prayer Jesus gave us. We often refer to this prayer as the “Our Father”. In this prayer we declare God, our Father as un-equaled.
There is not One who compares to Him. Then we ask “Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” This prayer from Jesus was not something that He thought up because it sounded good or spiritual. He gave us this prayer because He fully intends for this to happen.
Can you imagine it, the earth being governed by heaven’s principles? Jesus said “when the Son of man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?” (Luke 18:8). Will He find a people who are believing that heaven’s government is being established on the earth?
Thinking about heaven frees us from the bondage of the world system because, as Kingdom citizens, when we contemplate heaven we are keeping the big picture in mind. When we fully embrace our kingdom citizenship we are much better citizens here on earth.
Many years ago I became a Christian while reading books about the end times. Back then there was much talk about what many refer to as the “Rapture of the Church”. That is, we would all soon be caught up into heaven.
In my juvenile thinking I thought it would be a good idea to not be concerned about running up a lot of financial debt because we would soon be out of here anyway. Not only was this thought pure silliness but it was also dishonest and unbecoming of heaven’s way of doing business.
Heaven’s way of doing business holds to the highest degree of integrity possible. If you want to see heaven come to your house, your business, your life then always operate under heaven’s way of doing things.
You were created for heaven’s realm, as long as you are on earth you are privileged to influence this early realm with heaven’s glory. You are graced with heaven’s power to influence. You carry the greatness of heaven, the pleasure of the Lord on the earth. You are blessed.
Say it today, “I am blessed by Jesus my King!”
Love to all… pb
