Greetings to all,
Jesus said in John 6:63, “It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.”
The Greek word that is translated “life” is zoe. It means the absolute fullness of life, both essential and ethical, which belongs to God; life real and genuine, a life active and vigorous, devoted to God, blessed.
Vine’s Expository Dictionary of New Testament Words put it this way: “Life as God has it.”
This is God’s plan for His creation. From the beginning He planned for us to enjoy life in the same way that He has life.
Jesus gave us a key to enjoying this kind of life when He said, “The words that I speak to you are Spirit and they are Life.” This tells us that every time we hear His word, every time we read His word, every time we sing His word, there is a God kind of life being imparted to us.
His holy written word imparts life to us, but we also receive a God-filled life through the things that He speaks to us in the deep recesses of our heart.
Think about the kind of life Jesus walked in when He was on the earth. He never feared. He was never sick; He was never discontent; He always had all His needs meet, even to the point of supplying extra food for the thousands to who followed Him. Jesus understood that the life of His Father constantly flowed through Him.
You have this same opportunity today. By reading, hearing, singing and meditating on God’s word, particularly the words of Jesus, you can have the life of God shaping you and transforming you into the most excited, happy, life-giving person God created you to be.
Feed on Him today and enjoy His life-giving Presence.
Love to all
PB
