Greetings to all,
Recently some friends were taking Wesley Campbell and I out on a fishing trip. It was a beautiful day and after we launched the boat and got underway, we were sitting in our seats sailing along. Wesley turned to me and said, with enthusiasm, “We’re living the dream”.
When I heard this, something on the inside said “YES we are”; it seemed like I needed to be reminded of the good life.
We can often get so tangled up in the many activities of life that our focus is on the difficult things of life rather than the many blessings that we enjoy.
It’s like the professor who hands his new students a white blank piece of paper with one black dot in the centre. He then tells them to write something about the paper. All the students focus on the black dot. They write about how the black dot stands out and where it’s fixed on the paper. No one mentions the 98% of the paper that is white surrounding the black dot.
Isn’t that how we often spend our days, getting so caught up with the black dot in our lives rather than focusing on the wholesome things that we enjoy?
I do believe it is possible to be “living the dream” and miss the whole experience because we don’t take time to notice it, to focus on the abundant life we now have.
Luke 19:10 says, “For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.” You may have lost the good life at one time in your journey here on earth but Jesus came to redeem that and once you gave your life to Him your dream is no longer lost. The dream that God has for you is not lost.
Take time to focus on “Living the Dream” and watch His grace overwhelm any dark spot in your life.
Love to all… pb
P.S. “Living the dream” means spending time with God every day, not ignoring Him until Sunday. Here’s an article from the Faithworks blog about how to do just that: Not Just Sunday: Bringing God Into Your Everyday Life
