Top Canadian Christian Blogs

There are lots of well-known Christian bloggers in the U.S., but what about here in Canada?

We’ve put together a roundup of some of the top Canadian Christian blogs covering all kinds of topics, from applying faith in everyday life to Christian leadership. Some of these blogs are written by pastors and preachers, while others bring their faith to other professions.

This list is not intended to cover all of the inspiring Canadian Christian blogs out there, but just to highlight a few of our favourites. If you would like to nominate a blog to be included in this list, please leave a comment below.

“Just A Thought” by Rick Apperson

http://apperson.blogspot.com

This blog is one in which the author shares his personal thoughts and feelings on spiritual matters from a practical and relevant point of view. Apperson encourages readers to focus on the truth of God’s Word; allowing it to lead you to be more like Jesus vs. viewing it as a handbook for what not to do.

Rick Apperson is a preacher, husband, father, Salvation Army director, and author living in British Columbia.  Apperson’s message is one that resonates well with Christians around the world. His message, in a nutshell, is that we need make sure that our local churches are going about the business of The Church (as Christ intended it) rather than getting caught up in the rhetoric and traditions that often repel people away from Jesus instead of draw them in.

“By His Grace” by Jenny E. Burr

https://byhisgracejenny-burr.blogspot.com

Jenny’s blog is just the perfect spot to go to when you need a little reminder that God is the God of big and small things. She reminds us that no matter what we are going through (good, bad, or indifferent), God is there.

Not only is he there, but he is ready, willing, and able to bring it all around for our good if we will only let him. Jenny’s ability to see and acknowledge God in everything around her is a gift—a gift she capably shares for the purpose of helping others grow in their faith or come to know Jesus for the first time.

Jenny E. Burr lives in Ontario and is a teacher and education specialist. Her ability to teach and mentor through her words has been a benefit to countless readers and students in the classroom for several years.

Tim Challies

http://www.challies.com/

Tim Challies’ website/blog is the outlet for his thoughts and musings on a daily basis. His writings challenge readers to see God for who he really is—a God who is loving but demanding, patient, yet jealous, merciful, yet intolerant, and forever holy.

Tim helps readers see that we are all capable of doing great things for God by being the person God created us to be.

Tim Challies is a preacher, husband, father, and author. He makes his home in Toronto, Ontario, where he enjoys reading and reviewing books to recommend to readers seeking a deeper relationship with the LORD.

“Passionately His” by Jeff Loach

https://passionatelyhis.wordpress.com

The title of Jeff’s blog pretty well sums up what it is all about. Jeff’s writings are primarily meant to remind us that God loves us, that he wants the best for us, and that he is always ready to be all we need him to be.

His writing is down to earth and makes you feel as if you are having a conversation with him across the table with a cup of coffee or tea in your hand. Jeff’s desire to share Jesus with others is obvious in everything he writes.

Jeff Loach is a Presbyterian preacher in Nobleton, Ontario. In addition to preaching and writing, Jeff enjoys curling, constructing model railroads and traveling in his RV with his wife, Diana.

Carey Nieuwhof

http://careynieuwhof.com

While Carey’s blog is primarily speaking to preachers and church leaders, he has plenty of important and relevant things to say to each and every one of us. Carey is committed to helping church leadership reach the lost without watering down OR trying to ramp up the Gospel. Jesus is enough for everyone just as he is. This blog is just the right combination of encouragement and conviction to be more like Jesus every day.

Carey Nieuwhof is the founding pastor of Connexus Church and a motivational speaker and mentor in the areas of church growth and leadership training.

“Christianity 201” and “Thinking Out Loud” by Paul Wilkinson

https://paulwilkinson.wordpress.com/

and https://christianity201.wordpress.com/

Both of Paul Wilkinson’s blogs are both relevant and practical for every Christian AND those who are seeking to know who Jesus is. Paul’s blogs consist of his own writing as well as material from other Christian sources (used with permission, of course).

Paul shares with readers that the only real way to know Jesus is to have a close and personal relationship with him. Paul’s heart for reaching the lost and encouraging his brothers and sisters in Christ is obvious in everything he writes.

Paul Wilkinson is a husband, father, writer, musician, and lover of God. He is also dedicated to helping Bible/Christian book stores get beyond mere survival to being a thriving element of evangelism.
